Frequently Asked Questions

Why has the Fund been launched?

Following the experiences of D Squadron HCR in Afghanistan in 2006, the Operational Casualties Fund was created by Major Will Bartle-Jones RHG/D, aimed at helping to provide financial support to injured soldiers and their families, inclusive of those who have lost their lives on active service.

Surely it is the responsibility of other military charities to support injured soldiers and their families?

Whilst it has been recognised that much of the financial burden imposed by tragic operational casualties and injuries to soldiers is catered for by specialist Regimental and Armed Forces organisations who provide an immensely helpful element, experience shows that there is very much still a need for further assistance.

What will the proceeds be used for?

The fund will provide support to the families and dependants of those killed in action by responding promptly to problems of bereavement and hardship. It also supports those wounded on operations, particularly those who will have future requirements for assistance. Finally, to provide support for the families and dependants of those seriously wounded or injured in prolonged recovery situations.

Who is running the Fund?

A team of retired and serving individuals drawn from the Household Cavalry extended family, who are commercially-minded and available to devote time and energy to improving the welfare of injured soldiers and their families, inclusive of those who have lost their lives on active service.
